Officers

Chris Cormier (president):

I began working in construction in 2003 as a laborer performing all of the tasks that no one else wanted to do on the jobsite. I continued my work in the field performing everything from digging ditches to framing walls to running crews of laborers. In 2007 I made the switch to estimating and project management where I have been for the last 15 months. I have worked on such projects as the re-roofing of the California State Capitol Building, the UC Davis Health and Wellness Center, and the Sac State Recreation and Wellness Center. During my time in the Sac State Construction Management Program I have had the opportunity to participate in the Rebuilding Together program, ASC Reno Competitions (Residential 2007, Mechanical 2008), as well as helped to start Sac State’s student chapter of the Mechanical Contractor's Association of America (MCAA). As your president it is my personal goal to help you get the most out of your experience in the Sac State Construction Management Program. If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Eddy Deniz (Vice President):

Greetings! My name is Eddy Deniz and I will am currently serving as the Vice President of the CMSA. I began at Sacramento State in the spring of 2007 as a transferring sophomore from Santa Rosa Junior College. Since being at Sac State I have been involved in a number of activities and competitions. The program offers students numerous benefits and receives enormous support from the industry. It has been a privilege to be a part of this program and I look forward to the upcoming year!

Raymond Zhong (Treasurer):

"I am a first generation Asian American born and raised in the Bay Area. As I try to maintain my own sense of individualism, I also struggle to keep my culture and values alive. I attended Cal Poly SLO for a year doing Civil Engineering, but discovered that it was not something that I enjoyed doing. Currently I am majoring in Construction Management at Sac State, and am excited to get out of college to start my career in construction! I am also exploring the many options the field of construction has to offer, by working for a family owned residential construction company, interning with a commercial company (Rudolph and Sletten, Inc.) in 2007, and also interning for a heavy civil company (Underground Construction Company, Inc.) in 2008. I am also considering continuing my education with a Master's in Business Administration. If you would like to know more or just want some advice, feel free to let me know... I'm a pretty down to earth person. =) ~Raymond"

Jake White (Secretary):

I have been working in the construction industry since 1999. Since 2001, I have worked as an assistant project manager and estimator with a few construction companies. I have had the opportunity to shadow some of the most experience individuals in the construction industry. I hold a Design Tech Associate Degree from American River College and am currently working on my Construction Management Degree at California State University of Sacramento. I have served on various committees and volunteer projects. I have a very positive attitude in life and strongly believe in strengthening future generations. One of my favorite quotes is "Life is no short candle. It is a torch which you contain, and desire to make it burn brilliantly before passing it on to future generations."

Jody Bussey (Events Coordinator):

I transferred to the Sacramento State Construction Management Program in Fall 2006 from San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. I returned to school after spending 3 1/2 years working for an architect in Stockton. I am currently a senior in the Construction Management Program and an Intern Project Engineer for HMH Builders on the CalSTRS project in West Sacramento.

Ryan Henry (Volunteer Coordinator):

I am a junior in the program. I am a civil turned CM and enjoying every minute of it. Originally from the Sacramento area I plan to excel in the Sac State Construction Management program and move on to a great career. My goal as an officer in the CM program is to better unite the entire program and bring both students and professors closer together and become more involved. Feel free to stop me and ask any questions you may have about the program and upcoming events.
